Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 26, 2024  - For Shushan Purim fun, a Purim parade featuring 30 displays, including original giant puppets, was held in the center streets of Yerushalayim on March 25, with orchestras, dance groups, colorful flags, and costumed performers at various points along the route.

Originally to be called The Jerusalem "Adloyada", for the first time in 42 years, aimed at bringing joy to the holiday, drawing visitors from around the country to the capital, and uniting the nation in celebration. However, after hostage families complained, the event was renamed Purim United. The beginning of the parade had a large display counting the days of captivity and a huge yellow balloon shaped like a ribbon to remember the hostages wanted home.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion and his wife were surrounded by parents and family of Israelis hostage in Gaza holding a banner calling for their release.

Orinially timed for 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, the parade began 45 minutes late on King David Street near the Liberty Bell Park, continued to King Solomon Street, IDF Square, and Jaffa Street, and onto King George Street, ending near the Old HaMashbir Square.

The parade included dozens of artists and was Jerusalem-based. Because of the current situation, the goal was to demonstrate resilience and fortitude. Among the displays leading the parade was a lion, the city's emblem. Another display was a donkey, to symbolize the one on which Mashiach is to arrive.

The Purim United Parade, was among dozens of celebrations in the city in honor of Purim, held at the initiative of the Jerusalem Municipality, in collaboration with the Train Theater, and was intended for the whole family. Tens of thousands of spectators, many dressed in costumes, lined the streets to watch the slow-paced event.

With so large a crowd and streets blocked it was highly recommended to come via public transportation. No reports of violence and no rain added to the successful celebration ending in time for Purim Seuda.
