Baltimore, MD - Apr. 14, 2024  - (WBALTV) The westbound Interstate 70 bridge in Baltimore County will be temporarily closed on April 16 by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration. This closure, scheduled between 5:45 a.m. and 5 p.m., affects the section of I-70 over I-695 in Woodlawn. A detour will guide westbound I-70 drivers through the outer loop of I-695, then onto westbound U.S. Route 40, northbound U.S. Route 29, and back to westbound I-70.

The closure is part of a Work Zone Safety Unity Ride on April 16 at noon, aiming to raise awareness of work zone safety and honor those impacted by work zone crashes. Starting from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the procession will travel along the beltway to the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, with up to 350 vehicles participating. Drivers should expect brief ramp closures during the procession, which will adhere to posted speed limits.
