Baltimore, MD - Feb. 2, 2023 - The Baltimore City Police Accountability Board has been sworn in and will investigate police misconduct complaints, starting with a backlog of 308 complaints dating back to July 2022, reports WBAL. The board is made up of 17 members appointed by the City Council and approved by the Mayor. The goal of the board is to establish a good and transparent relationship with the Baltimore Police Department and to ensure accountability and responsibility. The board's creation is required by state law and is part of the BPD's efforts to reform under a federal consent decree. The members of the board aim to improve the police department and will investigate where there may be a disconnect in implementing new policies.
