Baltimore, MD - Aug. 16, 2025 – In a continuing effort to combat the opioid crisis, Baltimore County Public Library has partnered with the County’s Department of Health and Human Services to make naloxone available at every library branch.
Naloxone, a safe and proven medication, can quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, including heroin and fentanyl. By installing naloxone receptacles across its system, the library is working to ensure that this lifesaving resource is accessible to all.
“As a trusted community institution, Baltimore County Public Library is committed to meeting people where they are and providing resources that can truly save lives,” said Sonia Alcántara-Antoine, CEO of Baltimore County Public Library. “By partnering with the Baltimore County Department of Health to make Naloxone readily available, we are helping to break down barriers, reduce stigma, and ensure our neighbors have access to this critical tool in the fight against the opioid epidemic.”
