Baltimore, MD – Oct. 5, 2024 - Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital has been recognized on Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2025 list. This is the third year in a row that Levindale has received this prestigious recognition.

The America’s Best Nursing Homes 2025 ranking lists the nation’s leading nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest number of facilities, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Reviewers evaluate nursing homes according to key performance data, taken from monthly CMS reports that look at health inspections, staffing and quality measures. Other factors in the Newsweek ranking include reputation, accreditation and resident satisfaction.
Levindale is a 330-licensed bed facility that provides a broad array of services including a long-term residential facility, a sub-acute rehabilitation unit and a specialty hospital with a high-intensity care unit. The long-term care facility is home to more than 80 full-time residents. They live in six “households” that feature entertainment and den areas, which provide a more home-like setting. Through daily activities and recreation, ranging from art therapy and flower arranging to music and more, teams at Levindale work to ensure that residents continue to thrive in their later years.

Post-acute services offered at Levindale include the long-term care and subacute rehabilitation units equipped with skilled nursing staff, allowing the care team to focus on enhancing residents’ physical vitality as well as their emotional well-being. Long-term care residents can receive physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies, as needed. The multidisciplinary care offered at Levindale, along with the facility’s close proximity to Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, ensures that residents and patients can easily access specialists in cardiology, oncology and orthopedics, among others.
Levindale began in 1890 as the Hebrew Friendly Inn and Aged, a facility for elderly Jewish people in East Baltimore. In 1927, residents moved to Levindale, a former orphanage named Louis L. Levin, located in North Baltimore.
