Baltimore, MD - Apr. 23, 2026 - This past week, the Baltimore community was privileged to host Rabbi Baruch Rabinowitz, an educational consultant, renowned lecturer, and father of an adult child with Down syndrome. A talmid of Rabbi Moshe Shapiro, Rabbi Rabinowitz has made it his mission to highlight the inherent greatness of individuals with disabilities, emphasizing that what may appear as a limitation in this world reflects an especially deep and pure neshama.
The visit, organized by Yahalom MD, Agudah Maryland’s special needs division, partnering with BGCubed, began Sunday evening with a special “Sisters’ Night Out,” for middle and high school girls who have siblings with special needs. Alongside a fun activity and dinner, Rabbi Rabinowitz shared heartfelt words of chizuk, acknowledging the important role these girls play within their families. He spoke separately to the different age groups, ensuring that the message was tailored to each level. A special session of chizuk and Divrei Torah for Yahalom fathers followed and rounded out the program.
Although the formal program concluded shortly after 9:00 pm, Rabbi Rabinowitz remained until close to midnight, meeting privately with parents seeking his unique and empathic guidance and encouragement.

The next morning, Rabbi Rabinowitz embarked on a whirlwind tour of local schools, making stops at Bais Yaakov, Bnos, T.A., and T.I. At each location, he tailored his message to the audience, emphasizing sensitivity and respect, and sharing an appreciation for those who take on the meaningful role of supporting families of children with special needs.. He encouraged volunteerism among students, highlighting how profound their involvement can be, and how much families rely on these opportunities for much-needed respite. Considering the pressing need for volunteers at our local special needs organizations, this message can serve as inspiration for these students to continue making a tangible difference in the lives of these families.
Particularly moving was his visit to Talmudical Academy, where students interact with the integrated JEWELS classes on a daily basis. Rabbi Rabinowitz praised these students warmly, offering them a well-deserved acknowledgement and encouraging them to continue to embrace peers who have any type of disability. Reflecting on the visit, Rabbi Yaakov Schwartz, the principal, said that Rabbi Rabinowitz was “one of the most impactful, passionate speakers we have ever had in TA.”

Yahalom MD thanks the Goldenhersh and Wealcatch families for being co-sponsors of the event, bringing this remarkable opportunity to the Baltimore community.
