Baltimore, MD - Oct. 23, 2025  - As shiva has ended, our experience of aveilus begins to shift from the intense emotion of the past week. But our yearning to be connected with Rabbi Hauer, to absorb his teachings and to honor him, continues in full force.

Tonight, we will gather in shul at 8:00 PM for hespedim for Rabbi Hauer, zecher tzaddik l'vracha. We will hear from gedolei Torah who were very close with him, partners who worked side by side with him and members of his extraordinary family.

Although there will be a livestream available for those who absolutely cannot come, I strongly urge each of you to make every effort to attend in person, for several reasons. First, it is a tremendous kavod to the niftar and a nechama to his family for us to gather in person. Second, we need each other now; we need to be comforted by our achdus and strengthened by coming together as a community. But most of all, I can only imagine what Rabbi Hauer's reaction would be at the thought of people mourning separately, sitting in their daled amos and watching over a screen. He wanted us to be together and he believed that our community's insistence on davening together, on celebrating and mourning together, was one of our greatest strengths. Please come together to give nachas to his neshama in the way he would have wanted.

The parking lot at Bnos Yisrael, at 6300 Park Heights Ave, will be open for overflow parking.

I want to remind you as well that I am looking forward to meeting with each of you individually, to hear about your relationship with Rabbi Hauer and to process this loss together. You can reserve time by following this link to my calendar: https://calendar.app.google/VZRnPjEjsCn52Bw49.

With best wishes for besoros tovos and nechama for each of us,

Rabbi Daniel Rose
