Jerusalem, Israel - May 19, 2025 - Ahead of Jerusalem Day 5785, the Western Wall is preparing to welcome tens of thousands of visitors expected to arrive and participate in prayer gatherings and thanksgiving dances in honor of Jerusalem, from Sunday evening through Monday evening.
Schedule of festive events and prayer gatherings at the Western Wall Plaza:
Jerusalem Day Eve – Sunday | 27 Iyar | May 20 | 19:30
A festive maariv evening prayer service and the unfurling of a giant Israeli flag at the center of the Western Wall Plaza, attended by thousands, with the participation of:The Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, The Minister for Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, Rabbi Meir Porush, The Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Moshe Lion, The Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, and other public figures.
This year, the unfurling of the giant flag will be dedicated to the memory of Eyal Chaimovsky z”l, director of the Jerusalem Development Authority, who worked tirelessly to improve the Western Wall Plaza area for the benefit of worshippers and visitors.

07:00 AM – Festive shacharit morning prayer with the participation of thousands of Hesder Yeshiva students, rabbis, and public figures.

11:00 AM – A special live broadcast for elementary schools across the country, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and featuring the Minister of Education, Mr. Yoav Kisch.
The broadcast will include:
A special online quiz involving tens of thousands of students
A virtual tour of the Western Wall Tunnels
Videos and child-friendly content about Jerusalem and the Western Wall
19:00 PM – The main Flag Dance at the Western Wall Plaza marking 58 years since the reunification of Jerusalem, with the participation of rabbis, ministers, public figures, and tens of thousands of celebrants.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation kindly asks the public to follow all instructions from the Israel Police and event ushers throughout the Jerusalem Day events.
The new “Sha’ar HaShamayim” (Gateway to Heaven) experience and all Western Wall Tunnels sites are open for guided tours by advance reservation.
