Baltimore, MD – Feb. 17, 2025 – Thousands of Maryland residents remain without power after high winds knocked down trees, poles, and power lines Sunday night. At its peak, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) reported 118,000 customers affected. Crews are working overnight to restore service, but safety concerns, including the use of bucket trucks and clearing debris, may delay full restoration until Monday.Police are directing traffic at intersections without working lights, while other officers are blocking roads with downed trees and wires. Some residents reported hearing winds so loud they resembled a tornado, while others are considering staying in hotels until power is restored.
