Reconnecting with rabbeim and friends is always a highlight of the Yeshivas Ner Yisroel annual dinner, which draws over 1,000 attendees. Over the past few years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel in for many of these dinners, and each time I leave feeling inspired, elated, and incredibly proud to be a talmid of such a yeshiva.
This year, I booked an early morning flight to Baltimore, eager to visit family and talmidim, attend the Yeshiva’s Yarchei Kallah, and, most importantly, join the dinner event. My flight went smoothly, and I touched down in Baltimore just after seven. I made my way to the shuttle for the rental car terminal and approached the counter where my reservation awaited.
I had rented cars many times before and didn’t anticipate any issues. “Licen...

Baltimore, MD – Dec. 24, 2024 – Preconstruction efforts to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore are set to commence on January 7, marking the start of a four-year project estimated to cost $2 billion. The bridge, a vital link across the Patapsco River, tragically collapsed on March 26, 2024, when the container ship Dali crashed into a support column, killing six roadwork crew members and severing a critical route to and from Baltimore.
Preconstruction and Design Efforts
Initial activities include topographic and underwater surveys, soil sampling, and property inspections for about 1,100 homes and businesses near the bridge site. This groundwork will help guide the design of the new bridge, which will feature enhanced pier protection systems, wider lanes, updated ...

Someone used a large piece of construction equipment to steal a drive-through ATM from a Wells Fargo Bank in Northeast Baltimore on Sunday.
Officers on patrol in the northeastern part of the city were sent to the Parkside Shopping Center in the 5000 block of Sinclair Lane to investigate the theft of an ATM around 6:35 a.m., police said.
Once they arrived at the shopping center, they noticed that the bank's drive-through ATM was missing, according to authorities.
Police spokesman Vernon Davis said whoever took the ATM used a Bobcat skid-steer to rip it out of the concrete.
Skid-steer loaders weigh thousands of pounds. People typically use them to lift heavy materials and assist them with landscaping projects.
But on Sunday morning, someone—possibly multiple people—used...
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said around 1 million taxpayers will get up to $1,400 in a rebate in the coming weeks.
The automatic payments, which are set to go out later this month, will be sent out to taxpayers who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.
After going through internal data, the IRS said it found many eligible taxpayers who filed a return but did not claim the available credit.
Taxpayers don’t need to take any extra steps; the payments will be automatically directly deposited or sent by paper check. They will go out in December, and the public should receive them by late January. According to the IRS, taxpayers will be notified about the payment via a separate letter.
The payments will vary based o...
Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 24, 2024 - Starting January 1, all non-Israeli travelers to Israel will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization, known as the ETA IL, before commencing their journey. This long-anticipated program was first announced earlier this year, and was originally slated to begin on August 1. However, as reported by Chaim V’Chessed, implementation was delayed to allow for additional preparations.
While Israelis with valid Israeli passports are exempt from this requirement, several other categories of travelers—including student visa holders and permanent residents of Israel—are also officially not required to apply for an ETA. However, based on prior experience, it is highly likely that airline officials worldwide will be un...
