Jerusalem, Israel - Nov. 28, 2024 - Wednesday night November 27, NGO Monitor, a Jerusalem-based independent research organization, held an event at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, Israel. The event brought together hundreds of people interested in tackling the growing threats posed by groups fueling terrorism, anti-Israel sentiments, and rising antisemitic activities around the world.
The evening featured a panel with best-selling author, acclaimed journalist, and prominent NGO Monitor’s International Advisory Board member Douglas Murray, Professor Gerald Steinberg, Founder and President of NGO Monitor, and Olga Deutsch, Vice President of NGO Monitor.
The panel discussed the strategies to be employed to halt the influence of organizations and individuals actively driving terror and delegitimizing Israel.
Drawing on his extensive experience as a commentator on international affairs, Douglas outlined the dangers posed by the intersection of antisemitism, anti-Israel campaigns, and the activities of certain NGOs that fuel these narratives. His wit, knowledge, and timing were appreciated by the audience who gave him a standing ovation as he walked on the stage before he could be seated or utter a word.
Murray emphasized the role the media, international organizations, and influential NGOs play in shaping global perceptions of Israel and in fostering environments where terror and hate can flourish. He called for a more strategic, coordinated approach to combating these activities, one that includes greater transparency and accountability for organizations involved in promoting antisemitic rhetoric.
The sold-out event, which attracted foreign ambassadors, diplomats, policymakers, thought leaders, and activists, provided a platform for a broader discussion on the web of global terror networks, antisemitic campaigns, and the role of NGOs in these movements
