JVC starts the winning season of football by doing good and helping our community and hurricane communities elsewhere
Jewish Volunteer Connection (JVC) and 200 members of the community came together on September 10 to do good, help Hurricane victims and cheered on the home team as the NFL kicked off its season. The community watched the winning home opener and participated in volunteer projects that will benefit our local community and those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Projects to benefit those affected by the devastation of Harvey included writing notes of encouragement, creating dog toys for the animals that have been displaced, and collecting Target and Walmart gift cards that will be sent for distribution.
There were also opportunities to volunteer at various other community locations, participate in a trash scavenger hunt, serve food and watch the game with local veterans, donate school supplies, knit or crochet hats and scarves and brighten the day of seniors.
Day to Unite kicked off Jewish Volunteer Connections (JVC) Annual Days of Service. JVC hosts four Days of Service throughout the year where the community can come together to volunteer their time and services. On Day to Unite we encouraged participants to join us or to do projects in your home, while supporting our home team as well.
