Baltimore, MD - April 17, 2025 - Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE) is replacing CEO Carim Khouzami at a time when electricity bills have been under fire across the region.
BGE said Thursday that Khouzami will be succeeded by Tamla Olivier, the senior vice president and chief operating officer of Pepco Holdings, effective May 1.
She served as BGE's senior vice president of customer operations and chief customer officer before her current role at Pepco Holdings.
“It is an honor to return to a company and community that taught me so much about how to understand and meet the diverse needs of those customers we have the privilege to serve,” said Olivier, via a press release. “I’m excited to partner with BGE’s dedicated team to ensure our customers continue to count on us as one of the most reliable and responsive utilities in the country.”
Khouzami has been named executive vice president of transmission and development for Chicago-based Exelon, BGE’s parent company. He served as BGE's CEO since December 2019.
The move comes a day after Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen said the council will hold another hearing regarding a BGE employee falsifying inspection reports on natural gas pipelines, potential safety implications, and the cost to customers.
BGE is Maryland's largest electric and natural gas delivery company, serving over 1.3 million electric customers and 700,000 gas customers in central Maryland.
