Luigi Mangione has officially waived his extradition rights and could be returned to New York City as soon as Thursday to face charges. Mangione appeared at a hearing in Blair County, Pennsylvania Thursday morning to discuss extradition.

Once extradition paperwork is complete, the NYPD would be allowed to transport Mangione from Pennsylvania to New York City.

After he arrives in Manhattan, Mangione would be arraigned as soon as Thursday afternoon, Patch previously reported.

Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown Manhattan, has been indicted on first and second degree murder charges in his New York City case, the Manhattan District Attorney announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old, a Maryland native, has been formally indicted on a slew of charges, in addition to the murder counts, including: two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree; four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree; one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and one count of criminal Possession of a forged Instrument in the second Degree, according to prosecutors.

Mangione has hired Karen Friedman Agnifilo, a former assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, for his New York City case, Patch previously reported.

Blair County District Attorney Peter Weeks told reporters that the New York case should take "priority" over the charges Mangione faces in Pennsylvania, Patch previously reported.

“We do not intend to delay this defendant’s extradition to New York and we certainly — we’ve indicated to New York, their prosecution should take precedence, and then ours will follow," Weeks previously said.

Mangione also faces five charges in Pennsylvania.
