MK Tzvi Sukkot (Religious Zionist Party) spoke to Israel National News on Sunday and said he is not satisfied with the outcome of the latest operation in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that there were hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens under the threat of missiles, "which should not happen in any normal country. This is a situation we inherited and will have to deal with in the future."

Sukkot stated that the current government will have to think about an in-depth solution to the problem called Gaza. "Even if there were operational successes, one cannot be satisfied after citizens, adults and children, were in situations of anxiety that they might never overcome. This is not a situation I can be satisfied with, but within the framework of the existing situation, the government conducted itself in the best possible way."

On the achievements of Operation Shield and Arrow, Sukkot said that for the first time in Gaza-Israel relations, it seemed to the terrorist organizations that the event was over after the most recent round of escalation, but then, to their surprise, three very senior officials were eliminated.

"They begged for a ceasefire, and we didn't give them what they wanted. They didn't get the body of the hunger striker who died in prison, they didn't get a commitment that the eliminations would stop. The Israeli government proved here who is strongerin the field and the deterrence permeates the other sectors as well," he stated.

"They saw that we are ready for a broad campaign and deterrence is beginning to return. The fact that Hamas was deterred from entering this round is also evidence of the return of deterrence," continued Sukkot. "The message has been sent that any terrorist who raises his head, we will take it down."

Regarding Judea and Samaria, Sukkot believes that there is a significant change as the demand to bring back the checkpoints is beginning to be accepted and many of the checkpoints are manned, preventing the movement of terrorists from northern Samaria to carry out attacks in the region. In addition, he pointed out the ongoing activities of the IDF, such as settling the score with the perpetrators of the attack in which two soldiers were injured in Huwara, and the elimination of the terrorists who carried out the attack near Avnei Hefetz.
