At least 12 people were wounded from explosions within the mosque
At least three people were killed and 15 others injured in an explosion during Friday prayers at a mosque in the Afghan province of Nangarhar, a doctor at a hospital told AFP.
"I can confirm that an explosion occurred during Friday prayers inside a mosque in the Spin Ghar area. There are victims and dead people," the source said.
According to Reuters, the explosion targeted a mosque in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan, and according to preliminary data, at least 12 people were wounded.
An eyewitness said that the explosion occurred around 1:30 pm, adding that it appeared that explosives were present inside the mosque.
A series of recent bombings targeting mosques resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.
