Buckingham Palace says she 'will attend the annual Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph'

The UK’s Queen Elizabeth II is set to participate in a Remembrance Day Service Sunday for her first physical public appearance since being hospitalized in October.

Although the monarch was expected to attend the UN’s COP26 climate talks last week in Glasgow, Scotland, she delivered a virtual message instead as a health precaution, with palace officials citing advice from her doctor to rest.

“The Queen will attend the annual Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph on Sunday 14th November,” a statement from Buckingham Palace said, detailing the itinerary for Queen Elizabeth’s upcoming appearance.

“Mindful of her doctors' recent advice, The Queen has decided not to attend the General Synod Service and Opening Session on Tuesday 16th November.”

Officials explained that the monarch’s initial hospitalization was unrelated to Covid, and said she has a “firm intention” to attend the ceremony, which is an event honoring those who died or were wounded in conflict.
