An eight-month-old baby sustained a broken hip after being dropped by his sister as she sought refuge from rocket fire from Gaza in Sderot. Rif-Moshe Benita will need to wear a cast for six weeks. The boy's father, Yakov Benita, spoke to Kan News about the traumatic event, saying, "It's devastating that a baby has to endure a broken leg before they've even had a chance to walk, all because of a warning siren. It's heartbreaking that the children of Sderot have to live in such a perilous environment."

In response to the rocket attack by terrorists in Gaza, the red alert siren was triggered in Sderot and other nearby communities. The Israeli Air Force retaliated by striking targets in Gaza. The IDF reported that 12 rockets were launched from Gaza, with 11 landing in open areas and one falling within the Gaza Strip. The IAF retaliation took place at approximately 2:30 am.
