Senator Bernie Sanders facilitated the holding of a previously canceled "Nakba Day" event hosted by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, along with anti-Israel organizations, in a Senate office building, according to Arutz-7. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had previously blocked the event, planning instead a bipartisan discussion on the 75th anniversary of the US-Israel relationship. However, McCarthy holds no jurisdiction over the Senate, allowing Sanders to offer the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) hearing room for Tlaib's event. Tlaib, who accused Israeli police of a 'sustained campaign of terror' and called Israel an 'apartheid state,' was the only representative scheduled to speak, but Rep. Cori Bush also attended.
