Baltimore County, MD – May 30, 2025 – A zoning hearing has been scheduled for Monday, June 2, from 10–11 AM, regarding a proposal to open a cannabis dispensary at 301 Reisterstown Road, near Randall Avenue — just half a block from Seven Mile Market. The applicant is seeking a special exception in a commercial revitalization district, along with a variance for a modified parking plan and front setback.
However, June 2 is the second day of Shavuos. As a result, members of the community will obviously be unable to participate.
Scheduling this hearing on a day when a major portion of the community cannot be present is both exclusionary and deeply troubling.
Why This Matters: Potential Concerns
Community members have raised serious concerns about the impact a cannabis dispensary could have on the neighborhood:
Crime: Some studies suggest dispensaries may be linked to increases in certain types of crime and disorder, especially in the short term. Concerns about safety remain a major reason for community opposition.
Increased Foot Traffic: Dispensaries often bring heavy customer volume, which can lead to congestion and strain on local infrastructure.
Odor: The strong scent of cannabis, especially from the flowers, can be unpleasant for nearby residents.
Home Values: Some potential buyers may hesitate to purchase homes near a dispensary, which could impact property values and make homes harder to sell.
Call to Action
We urge all residents — whether directly impacted or simply concerned about the safety and character of our community — to contact Baltimore County and voice their opposition to the proposed cannabis dispensary at 301 Reisterstown Road.

Subject: Opposition to Cannabis Dispensary at 301 Reisterstown Road
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing as a concerned resident to express my strong opposition to the proposed cannabis dispensary at 301 Reisterstown Road, which is scheduled for a zoning hearing on Monday, June 2, from 10–11 AM.
This location is in close proximity to residential neighborhoods, schools, and places of worship, and I believe a dispensary here would negatively impact the community. Concerns include potential increases in crime, significant foot traffic and congestion, and the overall effect on quality of life and safety for nearby families.
Furthermore, the hearing has been scheduled on the second day of Shavuos, a major Jewish holiday, which prevents a significant portion of the local population from participating due to religious observance. This exclusion only deepens the concern about transparency and fairness in the process.
I respectfully urge you to reconsider the approval of this application.
Sincerely,
