About the Position

The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore is a central builder of Jewish community in Baltimore and is committed to strengthening and nurturing Jewish life. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and creative individual to become our new Scholar in Residence. This role will infuse Jewish learning into The Associated’s day to day efforts by designing and implementing new initiatives to engage Associated board members, top lay leaders and employees in meaningful Jewish learning. In this newly created position, you will work with colleagues and lay leaders across the spectrum of Jewish knowledge to provide context to The Associated’s mission and Jewish education in general.



What You’ll Do

Engage in Jewish learning with Board members, top lay leadership and colleagues in one-on-one and in small groups or through other opportunities as identified.
Develop strong relationships with Associated board members, lay leaders and employees.
Design and implement innovative programs and strategies to integrate Jewish learning into the work of The Associated.
Develop strategies to enhance learning throughout The Associated by providing Jewish context to our mission and collective work.
Create and host relevant Jewish learning opportunities for Associated professionals including introductory programming for those not familiar with Judaism.
Work with Associated professionals to integrate additional Jewish learning components into Associated-hosted meetings and programming – both online and in person
Prepare written and digital content in collaboration with The Associated’s Communications team.
Assist lay leadership in preparing divrei torah and speeches to deliver meaningful and relevant messages.

Passionate about high-level, meaningful Jewish learning.
Experienced in delivering innovative and engaging adult Jewish education.
Skilled in adult learning methodologies
Creative and motivated to apply Jewish texts, traditions and values to the work of The Associated and its network.
Thrive on developing strong relationships.
A collaborative team player who works with humility and self-awareness.
A self-starter, able to work independently and in groups.


Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree preferred.
5-8 years relevant experience required.
Strong Jewish studies background and teaching experience preferred.
Strong computer skills and virtual engagement skills required.
Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously a plus.
Must possess excellent presentation, written and public speaking skills.
Must be able to engage with sensitivity and nuance with adults from diverse backgrounds and across the spectrum of Jewish identity.

Salary range is approximately $67,500-$75,000 Salary will be based on qualifications and skills.
