Baltimore, MD - Aug. 6, 2025 - Maryland’s energy outlook is growing increasingly precarious as the Trump administration delivers a fresh blow to the state’s offshore wind ambitions — even as demand for electricity is projected to soar with the rise of artificial intelligence and data centers.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced it would revoke all designated Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf, citing executive orders signed by President Donald Trump after returning to the White House for a second, non-consecutive term.
BOEM “is de-designating over 3.5 million acres of unleased federal waters previously targeted for offshore wind development across the Gulf of America, Gulf of Maine, the New York Bight, Califor...
President Herzog “We urge the world not to fall for Hamas’s lies”
President Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog were received today, Wednesday, by President Alar Karis of Estonia at the Presidential Palace in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The two presidents held a diplomatic meeting followed by a joint statement to the press.
In his remarks, President Herzog presented images of hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavsky, held hostage by Hamas, juxtaposed against a staged photo from Gaza – revealed by a German newspaper – showing Gazans holding empty pots in front of cameras, but not in a food line.

Baltimore, MD - Aug. 5, 2025 - Baltimore County is among a federal list of sanctuary jurisdictions, according to a list posted online Tuesday by the U.S. Justice Department.
The DOJ identifies states, cities and counties as having policies, laws or regulations that impede enforcement of federal immigration laws.
The president's executive order issued in April and titled "Protecting American Communities From Criminal Aliens" directed the DOJ, in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security, to publish a list of such jurisdictions.
Baltimore County is the only Maryland jurisdiction included on this list.
Annapolis, MD - Aug. 5, 2025 - A new state audit is raising red flags over Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s claim that his administration identified $400 million in budget savings. Investigators say the numbers don’t add up and accuse Maryland’s leasing deals of lacking transparency and could possibly cost taxpayers far more than originally promised.
Moore tasked the Department of General Services (DGS) with some cost-cutting measures, including relocating certain state offices. But a 71-page audit suggests some of those measures may be based on incomplete data.
“We need immediate savings today because of the structural deficit we have in Maryland,” said Del. Ryan Nawrocki, R-Baltimore County. “Not savings in 25 years.”
Nawrocki called the fi...
A little-known opioid that’s deadlier than fentanyl has led to a growing number of overdose deaths in recent years.
Nitazenes, a class of synthetic opioids, were originally developed as pain relievers in the 1950s, but were never approved for use due to the high overdose risk, according to a report from the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD).
Starting in 2019, nitazenes (benzimidazole-opioids) began to enter the illicit drug market in Europe, where they have been reported on almost every continent.
CICAD’s report suggests that "nitazene use is a growing trend in North America and that availability is likely spreading across the Americas."
The most prevalent type of nitazene is isotonitazene (ISO), but at least a dozen others have been identified...

Baltimore, MD - Aug. 5, 2025 - Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Private Limited, the owner and operator of the DALI ship, have filed a lawsuit against Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the manufacturer of the ship.
The lawsuit alleges that the ship's collision with the Francis Scott Key Bridge back in March 2024 was caused by HHI's negligence, stating that a "defective design" is what led to the loss of power on the ship.
More specifically, the lawsuit states that a loose wire at node 381 on the ship's electrical switchboard caused a power outage at exactly 1:25 a.m., which led to the engine shutting down and a loss of steering.
According to court documents, two minutes after the power went out, a complete electrical blackout occurred. At 1:28 a.m., the ship c...
