Baltimore, MD - Dec. 24, 2024 - Last Sunday, Mesivta Shaarei Chaim held their first Open House since the purchase of their new campus. It was a beautiful, informative and well-received event. With an inviting setup and welcoming atmosphere, the group of interested parents was able to partake of delicious refreshments, and hear from the lineup of impassioned speakers. The recurrent theme centered on how much the Mesivta has accomplished in the past few years, and how entering the ‘next chapter’ with their remarkable Rabbeim, and now a “new place to call home” – boded for an exceptional Makom Harbatzas HaTorah HaRav Yona Yaakov Lapidus, Menahel, explained why the Mesivta years are so important in the life of a bachur, and how a positive Mesivta experience can l...

Baltimore, MD – Dec. 24, 2024 – Preconstruction efforts to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore are set to commence on January 7, marking the start of a four-year project estimated to cost $2 billion. The bridge, a vital link across the Patapsco River, tragically collapsed on March 26, 2024, when the container ship Dali crashed into a support column, killing six roadwork crew members and severing a critical route to and from Baltimore. Preconstruction and Design Efforts Initial activities include topographic and underwater surveys, soil sampling, and property inspections for about 1,100 homes and businesses near the bridge site. This groundwork will help guide the design of the new bridge, which will feature enhanced pier protection systems, wider lanes, updated ...

Someone used a large piece of construction equipment to steal a drive-through ATM from a Wells Fargo Bank in Northeast Baltimore on Sunday. Officers on patrol in the northeastern part of the city were sent to the Parkside Shopping Center in the 5000 block of Sinclair Lane to investigate the theft of an ATM around 6:35 a.m., police said. Once they arrived at the shopping center, they noticed that the bank's drive-through ATM was missing, according to authorities. Police spokesman Vernon Davis said whoever took the ATM used a Bobcat skid-steer to rip it out of the concrete. Skid-steer loaders weigh thousands of pounds. People typically use them to lift heavy materials and assist them with landscaping projects. But on Sunday morning, someone—possibly multiple people—used...
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said around 1 million taxpayers will get up to $1,400 in a rebate in the coming weeks.  The automatic payments, which are set to go out later this month, will be sent out to taxpayers who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns.  After going through internal data, the IRS said it found many eligible taxpayers who filed a return but did not claim the available credit.  Taxpayers don’t need to take any extra steps; the payments will be automatically directly deposited or sent by paper check. They will go out in December, and the public should receive them by late January. According to the IRS, taxpayers will be notified about the payment via a separate letter.  The payments will vary based o...
Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 24, 2024 - Starting January 1, all non-Israeli travelers to Israel will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization, known as the ETA IL, before commencing their journey. This long-anticipated program was first announced earlier this year, and was originally slated to begin on August 1. However, as reported by Chaim V’Chessed, implementation was delayed to allow for additional preparations. While Israelis with valid Israeli passports are exempt from this requirement, several other categories of travelers—including student visa holders and permanent residents of Israel—are also officially not required to apply for an ETA. However, based on prior experience, it is highly likely that airline officials worldwide will be un...

A 60 Minutes broadcast on Sunday evening confirmed many of the details behind the beeper and walkie-talkie sabotage attack against Hezbollah: the operation began over a decade ago, with the Mossad initially weaponizing walkie-talkies sold to the Iranian-backed proxy terrorist group. The beeper and walkie-talkie attack sent Hezbollah reeling and was credited for giving Israel an extra opening for a bombing campaign that brought the Lebanese terrorist group to its knees. The Jerusalem Post exclusively reported on many of the details revealed in 60 Minutes on December 2. The original plan for the walkie-talkies could have led to not merely wounding over 3,000 Hezbollah operatives, but killing over 15,000, as reported by the Post, or 16,000, per 60 Minutes. Several top I...
For 444 days, over 50 American diplomats and citizens were held hostage in Iran in 1979-1981. The world held its breath for their safe return.  Today, 100 innocent Israelis—men, women, and children—remain hostages in Gaza. They have also now endured 444 days in captivity without basic humanitarian aid, medicine, or visits from the Red Cross.  This must end. Bring them home!Today I hosted Farhan al-Qadi, a Muslim Bedouin citizen of Israel who was freed by the IDF four months ago, and Malki Shem Tov, the father of Omer who is still cruelly being held in Hamas captivity. Their shocking stories underscore the urgent need to bring everyone home.  This is a moral imperative.  #BringThemHome

Towson, MD - Dec. 23, 2024  - It’s one of the most joyful times of the year, but also one of the busiest for shopping. Some shoppers in Towson are hoping to avoid the crowds and some are avoiding the Towson Town Center altogether. Melissa Paddock, a Towson resident, says, “It’s sad to say but yeah I’ve avoided the mall and I haven’t in the past, but this year I avoided the mall.” On Sunday afternoon, two people were arrested after a fight at Towson Town Center, interrupting the holiday shopping rush. “It’s kind of a tradition to shop at Macy’s [...] and I didn’t go because of the possibility of crime,” said Paddock. As of December 3, Baltimore County Police say they have responded to 492 crimes at Towson Town Cente...

Defense Minister Israel Katz confirms for the first time that Israel was behind the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran over the summer. Also at a commemoration event for local security officers, Katz threatens the Houthis in Yemen after the Iran-backed terror group continues to carry out attacks on Israel. “In these days, when the Houthi terror organization is firing missiles at Israel, I want to convey a clear message to them: We have defeated Hamas, we have defeated Hezbollah, we have blinded the defense systems in Iran, and damaged the [missile] production systems. We have overthrown the Assad regime in Syria, we have dealt heavy blows to the ‘axis of evil,’ and we will also severely strike the Houthi terror organization in Yemen, which remains th...
