President Herzog spoke first, followed by Labor Minister Yoav Ben Tzur, and Chairman of the Organization of Victims of Terrorism Abie Moses. With the spread of bird flu in the U.S., the prices of eggs have jumped in recent weeks, throwing another curveball to consumers looking to prepare goods for the upcoming holidays.
The price tag for a dozen Grade A large eggs was nearly $3.65 last month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data, an uptick from $3.37 in October. The price for the same amount of eggs at the beginning of this year was $2.52.
“The food at home index rose 0.5 percent over the month. Four of the six major grocery store food group indexes increased in November,” BLS said in a news release earlier this month. “The index for meats, poultry, fish and eggs rose 1.7 percent over the month, as the index for beef increased 3.1 percent and the index for eg...
The Israeli military said on Saturday that while the investigation into the failure to intercept the missile that hit Tel Aviv early in the morning was still ongoing, some lessons were already being implemented.
The ballistic missile, fired by Yemen's Houthi jihadists, landed at a playground in a residential area, leading to 16 people sustaining injuries from glass shards.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson said that "some of the conclusions have already been implemented, in regards of both interception and early warning."
The spokesperson added that "no further details regarding aerial defense activities and the alert system can be disclosed due to operational security considerations.”
The Houthis have repeatedly fired drones and missiles towards Israel in w...
The Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi David Yosef and Rabbi Kalman Ber, have requested President Yitzhak Herzog to grant a pardon to Soldier A, who leaked classified documents to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman, Eli Feldstein.
"The difficult decision made in his case is causing division within the nation. We see the presidency as a symbol of peace and unity. The soldier deeply regrets his actions. We join many others in urging you to use your authority to grant him a pardon," they said.
The soldier, through his attorneys, submitted a pardon request to President Herzog last Thursday, expressing remorse for his actions and stating, "I admit my mistake, have learned my lesson, and am truly remorseful."
The request emphasized that "His case presents special personal...
White House aides covered up President Biden’s apparent mental decline from Day 1 of his presidency, shielding the aging commander-in-chief from the public and even rearranging his schedule after scatterbrained performances, an explosive report revealed Thursday.
The lack of access to the nation’s oldest-ever president has been well known in Washington — with Biden hosting the fewest large press conferences in modern history and frequently descending into gaffes at the podium when he appeared — but how much the White House made up for the haziness had until now been hidden, according to aides, Democratic lawmakers and donors who spoke with the Wall Street Journal.
Presidential staff formed a tight shell around Biden, 82, right after he took office a...
Crowds gathered Saturday night at Hostages Square for the weekly families' rally, under the banner, "A complete nation requires everyone - together!"
Families of released hostages and those whose bodies have been returned to Israel opened the rally with a message of support to all the families, stressing, "We stand with you until the last hostage returns!"
During the rally, the families emphasized their clear and unequivocal demand for a deal that would guarantee the return of every last hostage.
Hen Avigdori, whose wife Sharon and daughter Noam were released from Hamas captivity, said: "The release of hostages isn't just about freeing a hundred people from terrible captivity by human monsters - it's the liberation of us all - it's all of us emerging from darkness to...
The Yemeni channel Al-Masirah, affiliated with the Houthi rebel group, reported a strike in Sana'a, the capital of Yemen.
According to reports, the international coalition is behind the strike.
CENTCOM reported: "US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sana'a, Yemen, on Dec. 21 Yemen time."
"CENTCOM forces conducted the deliberate strikes to disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, such as attacks against US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden.
"During the operation, CENTCOM forces also shot down multiple Houthi one way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (O...
Germans on Saturday mourned the victims of an apparent attack in which authorities say a doctor drove into a busy outdoor holiday market, killing five people, injuring 200 others and shaking the public’s sense of security at what would otherwise be a time of joy.
The alleged attack Friday evening in Magdeburg, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of Berlin, killed a 9-year-old and four adults and injured 41 people badly enough that authorities warned the death toll could rise.
Magdeburg marked the tragedy Saturday with the tolling church bells at 7:04 p.m., the exact time of the attack in the city of roughly 240,000 people. The driver, a 50-year-old doctor who immigrated from Saudi Arabia in 2006, surrendered to police at the scene. He’s being investigated for five counts...
Facing a government shutdown deadline, the Senate rushed through final passage early Saturday of a bipartisan plan that would temporarily fund federal operations and disaster aid, dropping President-elect Donald Trump’s demands for a debt limit increase into the new year.
House Speaker Mike Johnson had insisted Congress would “meet our obligations” and not allow federal operations to shutter ahead of the Christmas holiday season. But the day’s outcome was uncertain after Trump doubled down on his insistence that a debt ceiling increase be included in any deal — if not, he said in an early morning post, let the closures “start now.”
The House approved Johnson’s new bill overwhelmingly, 366-34...
Shots were fired at a Jewish girls' school in the North York district of Toronto early Friday morning, marking the third such incident at the institution this year, according to Toronto police.
Officers responding to the scene at Bais Chaya Mushka Elementary School discovered evidence of gunfire around 2:30 a.m. local time.
No injuries were reported. The Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force is leading the investigation, with support from the Hate Crime Unit.
This is the third shooting at the school in seven months. In May, two gunmen opened fire at the school on a Saturday morning while it was closed.
In October, two men were arrested following another shooting towards the school which occurred on Yom Kippur.
No one was injured in either of the incidents.

A car drove into a group of people at a holiday market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg on Friday.
German news agency dpa reported that the driver was arrested. At least 20 people were hurt, according to Bild.
Magdeburg, which is west of Berlin, is the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt and has about 240,000 inhabitants.
Barbara Leaf, the top US diplomat for the Middle East, on Friday informed Syria's new leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, that Washington would no longer pursue a reward for his arrest, AFP reported.
This announcement came during a meeting in Damascus, where Leaf praised "positive messages" from their discussions, including a commitment to combating terrorism.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, which marked a rare formal visit by US officials to Damascus since the onset of Syria's devastating civil war, Leaf was quoted as having said, "Based on our discussion, I told him we would not be pursuing the Rewards for Justice reward offer that has been in effect for some years.”
The meeting follows Sharaa's rise to power after his Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group ...

Baltimore, MD - Dec. 20, 2024 - Party City is going out of business, closing all remaining stores in Maryland and elsewhere, ending its 40-year reign as the go-to party supplier in the country, according to CNN reporters who viewed a meeting of the company’s corporate employees Friday.
CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees the company is “winding down” operations and Friday was their last day of employment.
“That is without question the most difficult message that I’ve ever had to deliver,” Litwin said at the meeting, which was held on a video conference call. Party City’s “very best efforts have not been enough to overcome” its financial challenges, he added, resulting in the company’s collapse.
